        Make sure you have installed THE LATEST Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. Older versions won't work.

      STEP 02 — Fresh & Clean Fallout 4 Install CRITICAL

To obtain a fresh copy of Fallout 4 including DLC:
        
    
          
  1. Open your Steam library and find Fallout 4.

  2. Right-click the entry and choose Properties.
    3. 
          
  3. Click on DLC and check every box EXCEPT the High Resolution Texture Pack.
    4. 
          
  4. Click on Local Files and verify integrity of game files.

  5. Let it run. When done, start Fallout 4 once to the main menu, then exit.

      STEP 03 — Set Up Vortex to Manage Fallout 4 VORTEX
      

        
    
          
  1. In Vortex's Games tab, find the Fallout 4 tile and click Manage.
    2. 
          
  2. Follow the directions Vortex gives you.
    3. 
          
  3. Open Settings and under Advanced click Enable Profile Management.
    4. 
          
  4. Find the Automation section a bit further down and configure as recommended.
    5. 
          
  5. Click the Profiles tab and use Add Fallout 4 profile.
    6. 
          
  6. Fill in your details, then Save.
    7. 
          
  7. Click Enable — fresh profile ready to go.

  8. Go to Plugins. In the orange bar, ensure Autosort Enabled is on.

      STEP 04 — Download A StoryWealth DOWNLOAD
      

        Congratulations — you're set up. Now DOWNLOAD A StoryWealth.
        
    
          
  • Click the ADD COLLECTION button on the Nexus collection page.
    • 
          
  • Bell-icon messages during install can be ignored until install finishes.
    • 
          
  • Manual-download prompts mean you're not on Premium — Premium gets automatic downloads.
    • 
          
  • Once it's finished, continue to the next step.
    • 
        

        
For Non-Premium Users: if hidden mods are giving you trouble, temporarily disabling AdBlocker often does the trick.
      

    


    

      STEP 05 — Deploy Your Mods VORTEX
      

        When the downloads are done, head to the Mods Tab and in the top bar click DEPLOY MODS. That's it for this step.
      

    


    

      STEP 06 — Downgrade the Game PLATFORM-SPECIFIC
      

        GOG users skip this step — GOG still uses the old version of the game.
        

If you want Creation Club content installed, you need to do it before downgrading. Highly advised not to — there's a hard limit on archive count and each CC mod adds to it.
        

Go to the Dashboard and find the Fallout 4 Downgrader tile. Let the patcher run for a few seconds — done. If you're getting a login screen, you've most likely already finished patching; no need to log in.

  1. Click the "Open" folder icon in the Mods Tab.

      STEP 07 — Adjust .ini Files (Bethini Pie) CONFIG
      

        
    
          
  1. Open Bethini Pie from your Vortex Dashboard.

  2. Apply settings selecting Fallout 4. Default paths are fine.

  3. Use the recommended preset, or any preset you like — but DO NOT use Ultra; it kills performance for an imperceptible visual difference.

  4. Set Resolution to your current screen resolution.

  5. Hit File → Save. Apply any suggested changes. Exit.

      STEP 08 — Windows Security Exclusion PERFORMANCE
      

        Windows Security will make the game take forever to load due to unneeded checks. Add the Fallout 4 and Steam folders as exclusions in Windows Security to speed up start-up.

      STEP 09 — Optimize Your Experience OPTIONAL
      

        Increase Pagefile Size — large mod collections eat RAM. A bigger pagefile gives you the virtual memory headroom for stability and smoother asset transitions.

        

          How to set Pagefile to 20 GB on Windows
          

            
    
              
  1. Press Win+R, type sysdm.cpl, hit Enter.
    2. 
              
  2. Go to the Advanced tab → Performance section → Settings.
    3. 
              
  3. In Performance Options, the Advanced tab → Virtual memory → Change.

  4. Uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drives.
    5. 
              
  5. Select your system drive, choose Custom size: Initial & Maximum both 20480.

  6. Click Set, then OK through the dialogs.

      STEP 10 — Sort, Enable & Launch FINAL
      

        Make sure ALL plugins are enabled, then hit Sort Now in the Plugins tab.
        

It's time to play. Use one of the three shortcuts to Script Extender. Do not start the game using the base Fallout 4 launcher.
        

Black screen tip: if you're stuck at a black screen on a new game, spam the T key as you start to bypass it.
        

Once the base collection runs cleanly — then go shopping for AddOns. Not before.

      GAME CRASHES AT STARTUP DIAGNOSE FIRST
      

        There are three main causes for startup crashes. Identify yours by checking the crash log.
        

Step 1 — Find Your Crash Log:
        
    
          
  • Navigate to Documents/My Games/Fallout4/F4SE/
    • 
          
  • Open the most recent crash-[date].log
    • 
          
  • Look at the first few lines for the error code
    • 
        

        
Step 2 — Identify Your Issue: look for a line that says Unhandled exception "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" followed by a memory address.

Vortex Installation Issue (missing masters / failed mod install)

          Sometimes during install some mods don't properly install. Easy reinstall fix:
          
    
            
  1. Make sure you have no filters selected in the Mods Tab.

  2. Remove/Uninstall all mods (don't delete the Archives) — CTRL+A to select all.
    3. 
            
  3. Re-download the latest revision (overwrite if asked).
    4. 
            
  4. Go to Plugins and click Sort Now.

BA2 Archive Limit Exceeded (too many .ba2 files)

          Fallout 4 has a hard limit of 256 BA2 archives. Exceed it and the game crashes at startup.
          

Check your current count: Open CM Toolkit in your Vortex Dashboard.
          

Why this happens:
          
    
            
  • A StoryWealth uses ~190 main archives
    • 
            
  • Each Collection AddOn adds more archives
    • 
            
  • Creation Club content (especially Creations Bundle ~130 archives) eats a lot of space
    • 
          

          
Solutions:
          
    
            
  • Remove unused CC content: in your Fallout 4 Data folder, find the matching .esl + .ba2 files and move them to a backup folder outside Data.
    • 
            
  • Disable some Collection AddOns to reduce archive count.
    • 
            
  • Merge archives with BMAT — see the dropdown below.
    • 
          


          

            BMAT — BA2 Merging Automation Tool (Advanced)
            

              BMAT can automatically merge your BA2 archives to stay under the 256 limit.
              

Note: the merge process can take a long time — some users report 6–10 hours depending on setup.

  • Restart your PC after installing PowerShell 7 (required)

Using BMAT:
              
    
                
  1. Run "BA2 Merging Automation Tool" from your Vortex Dashboard.

  2. BMAT will auto-close and reopen Vortex to refresh loadorder.txt.
    3. 
                
  3. When prompted, choose locations for BMAT's Staging Folder and Working Folder (create these outside the game / Data dirs).
    4. 
                
  4. BMAT will collect info about your installed collections and active mods — be patient.
    5. 
                
  5. When finished, you'll be prompted with y/n to confirm the merge.
    6. 
                
  6. After the merge, close BMAT and click Deploy Mods in Vortex's Mods tab.

  7. Plugins tab → Sort Now to ensure BMAT plugins load correctly.

  8. You're ready to play.

To revert the merge: run BMAT again, choose the restore option, then Deploy Mods in Vortex.

          NO CRASH LOG GENERATED
          
Recording Software Conflict

          Recording tools like Medal, Action, or SteelSeries Moments have been known to cause the game to crash before it can even produce a crash log. Disable them and retry.

      VISUAL GLITCHES OR CRASHING ON LOAD/SAVE SAVE-RELATED
      

        Go to the Plugins tab and click Sort Now. This fixes the issue in most cases.
        

If Sort Now doesn't resolve it, you may have a cyclic mod issue:

        

          Resolve Cyclic Mod Issue
          

            Sometimes during updates there are conflicting groups/rules. Do the following:
            
    
              
  1. Plugins tab → double-click any plugin to open the sidebar that lets you change groups.
    2. 
              
  2. Ctrl+A to highlight all plugins.
    3. 
              
  3. Change the group for all plugins to anything, then delete it with the x.
    4. 
              
  4. All your mod groups should now have an italicized group.
    5. 
              
  5. Right-click the collection in the Mods tab → Apply Collection Rules. (If you don't see that option, use Reinstall instead — dismiss the popup.)
    6. 
            

            
If the issue persists: check "Remove Custom Rule" and click Apply Selected.
            

If you're getting issues related to "Groups": go to Plugins → Manage Groups, right-click anywhere, and choose RESET.
          

        

      

    


    

      VORTEX RULE CONFLICTS LOAD ORDER
      

        Vortex doesn't always apply our rules the way we want. In rare cases the ordinary LOOT rule will get applied instead of our custom rule, causing fresh-install issues. Standard LOOT won't work either due to how the "PreVis & PreCombines" group is structured — those mods need to load essentially last.
        

If you hit this, post in the Discord support channel with your load order — the team will help untangle it.

Revisions roll out regularly. Here's how to keep your install in sync without doubling up mods.

      Injecting Modern Weapons LOOT TABLES
      

        By default, aSW keeps the modern weapons outside any levelled lists. This ensures that those who don't want them in regular gameplay aren't surprised by them.
        

If you'd prefer them to be injected into normal loot, the option is configurable. The same process can also be applied to the AER-15 and the X12 Plasmacaster.
      

    


    

      ACR-W17 — Where Is It? LOCATION
      

        There's only one of these in the game, found at Vault 111. We have a custom patch that has removed it from the levelled lists, so you can only find it right where it's been placed.
      

    


    

      Where Are the Outfits? CRAFTING
      

        The outfits that would normally be found in the Chem Station have been moved to a separate workbench category to keep the Chem Station clean. Look for a dedicated outfit workbench in your settlement build menus.

      Is this collection safe for new players? GENERAL
      
Yes. A StoryWealth is built to stay close to vanilla Fallout 4 — no invasive overhauls, no new systems to learn. Both new and experienced players are welcome.

    


    

      Do I need Nexus Premium? DOWNLOADS
      
Premium gets you automatic downloads, which is the smoothest experience for a 929-mod collection. Non-Premium users can still install — just expect manual prompts. Disabling AdBlocker temporarily helps if you're stuck on hidden mods.

    


    

      Can I play on GOG? PLATFORM
      
Yes. GOG still ships the older version of the game that the collection targets, so GOG users can skip the downgrade step entirely.
